What's Covered in an Auto Protection Plan

Covered components in the Platinum plan include most parts of the engine, transmission, drive axle, air conditioning, cooling system, fuel pump, electrical system, starter, and water pump. CarShield's Gold plan is an enhanced powertrain warranty. .

What is NOT Covered

 Auto Protection Plans do not cover pre-existing issues, repairs or replacement parts not included in your contract, unauthorized repairs and more. For example, some parts that are commonly excluded from coverage under  Auto Protection Plans plans include brake pads, shocks and struts, rubber hoses, and serpentine belts. The complete list of what is excluded will be outlined in your policy when you purchase a  Auto Protection Plans.

  • Repairs for issues that existed before you purchasing a plan
  • Any repairs that  Auto Protection Plan did not authorize, unless for an emergency
  • Parts or repairs not included in your policy
  • Airbag and seat belt failure
  • The deductible listed in your  Auto Protection Plans contract
  • Cleaning, adjustments, refitting, realigning, or programming that is not required for covered repairs
  • Breakdowns or maintenance as a result of a collision or other external causes like fires, extreme weather, animals, or explosions
  • Breakdowns that are caused by things like engine sludge, corrosion, cracked rubber, dry-rot, road chemicals, lack of fuels, or use of a fuel grade that is not recommended by your vehicle’s manufacturer
